Tis the season for some fabulous holiday decorations. While I'm sure you've got the basics covered, don't leave your bar cart out in the cold. After all, this is prime cocktail making season, so here are a few ways to make your bar or bar cart just as festive as the rest of your house!
- Clear the clutter. It's appropriate to have all different kinds of booze, but it's not necessary to store them all on the bar or bar cart. Select the ones that you're using most that season, or some of your favorite bottles. For me, it's usually whiskey and the fixings for a good Manhattan. A current favorite at our house is the Bourbon Whiskey from Kings County Distillery. If you live in New York, I highly recommend that you check out their tasting room! A bonus: the packaging is simple and neat too, so it looks great on the bar!
- Make your garnishes work for you. When you're scoping out garnishes, look for some that can double as decorative elements too. Oranges, cranberries and rosemary sprigs are all perfect for adding a little twist of holiday spirit. Added bonus if you're serving a cocktail that uses them!
- Add a few decorations. If you've got garnishes working doubling as decorations, you should only need to add a few other decorations to finish the job. A piece of garland, a bit of mistletoe, some small pieces of birch wood or a candle or two. Have an extra wreath, hang it above the cart too
